Ground floor: Living/dining room with open fireplace and exit to the patio. Well equipped open kitchen with electric oven.
First floor: 2 Double bedrooms. Bathroom. Entrance and veranda.
Heating: Open fireplace in the living room, electric heaters in the bedrooms.
Amenities: Private swimming pool, TV, wifi-Internet, garden, micro-wave oven, washing machine, dishwasher, barbecue, cot (at request).

House and surroundings

The village of Torneiros lies at the foot of the Spanish side of the Serra do Gerês (Xurés in Galician), about 7 km of the border.
Casa de las Vides is located on the outskirts of the village, offering a magnificent and wide view over the valley of the Rio Caldo, which rises high in the mountains.
The granite house is attractively restored into a holiday cottage, and despite its modest dimensions it offers everything for a pleasant stay for 4 people. On the patio at the back you can enjoy breakfast in the morning sun, or find shade on a hot afternoon. From here you have a view on the swimming pool and the garden and the mountains beyond.

 

The Serra is a paradise for walkers and nature lovers. At both the Spanish and Portugues sides there are way-marked walks, one of them following the Roman road XVIII that once connected the cities of Braga and Astorga, and which passes close to the village. A short detour from this walk leads to the impressive waterfall of Corga da Frecha.

 

In the neighbourhood are several hot springs that were already in use by the Romans. Just past the village is the Balneario (spa) which offers all kinds of wellness and beauty arrangements. Next to it a part of the hot springs is free and available for everyone’s use.

 

In Torneiros, at walking distance, are two restaurants and a small shop with groceries.
The nearest small town is Lobios (6 km). There you will find all kinds of shops and supermarktes, cafés (some with wi-fi internet), restaurants, banks, the post office, a pharmacy, a large monthly market, etc.
At the lake Caniçada in Portugal (27 km) are all kinds of watersports. There are canoes, pedalos, jet-skis and motor boats for hire, and you can learn how to water-ski.
The distance to the city of Braga (Portugal) is about 60 km, and to Ourense (Spain) 70 km.

Information on the way we work:

Booking

To book one of our properties simply send us an e-mail with the following details:

  • Your full name, address and mobile telephone number;
  • The name of the property of your choice;
  • The period (date of arrival and date of departure);
  • The number of people (adults and children, plus ages of the children);
  • The number of rooms (if applicable);
  • Additional information, such as the use of a cot.

We will send you thereupon by e-mail a confirmation with directions for payment. At request we will send you a written confirmation by mail as well.

The deposit

Payments can be made in Euros by an international bank transfer. You can also pay through Paypal, in which case we will make a 2% charge as a contribution to the costs incurred.
As soon as we receive your down payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail, including detailed directions to the property.

The balance

As soon as we receive the balance of the payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail. In this message we will ask you to let us know – not later than 2 days in advance – the time of arrival, so we or the owner can be on time to welcome you and hand over the keys.
In some cases, depending on the property, we will also send practical information and tourist information on the house and its surroundings. Like the directions, this information is a simple html file (Internet page), that can be viewed or printed with any webbrowser such as Internet Explorer or FireFox.

The day of your arrival

On the day of your arrival we or the owner will be at the property at the time you agreed upon. If you expect to arrive later, for instance because your flight is delayed, please let us know as soon as possible.
If we ourselves cannot be at the property on the day or time of your arrival, we will try to come by one of the following days. Of course you won’t need to stay in, waiting for us, so if we don’t meet and you do have questions, don’t hesitate to call us.

Information on shops , restaurants, sight seeing…

For all our properties detailed information is available on shops, restaurants, wine, sight seeing, but also on hospitals, pharmacies, banks, etc. In some cases you will find the information in the house, in other cases we will send it to you together with the confirmation of the payment of the balance.

It is your holiday, so we won’t bother you with a long questionnaire. But we would greatly appreciate if you could send us an e-mail afterwards, telling us what you thought of the organization and the property.
