First floor (all on the same level): Hall. Spacious living room with card table. Large veranda. Fully fitted kitchen with dining area and access to the outside stairs. Utility room with washing machine.
4 bedrooms (3 double and 1 twin), each with ensuite bathroom.
Ground floor: is not rented or inhabited.
Heating: Central heating, with an open fireplace in the living room.
Amenities: Private swimming pool, TV, wi-fi Internet, dishwasher, microwave oven, washing machine, barbecue, cot (at request), private parking.
House and surroundings
Casa de Pichoses is a recently built villa, at short distance from the reservoir of Caniçada. The house is very comfortable and tastefully furbished. The living room gives from two sides access to the wide, L-shaped veranda, that offers you a splendid view over the swimming pool and the lake, and ample opportunity to enjoy the long summer evenings.
Surrounding the pool is a lovely garden, which is ideally situated for sunbathing. To the left are a few small, terraced meadows, nearly all day in the shade of high trees.
The lake (almost 700 hectares) is at the border of the Serra da Cabreira and the Serra do Gerês on the North side. For those who seek recreation by or on the water, alternating with visits to the impressive Portuguese national park Peneda-Gerês, this is an ideal place. Not far from the villa you can rent canoes, jet skis, pedaloes and motor boats. You can also learn to waterski.
From the nearby village of Rio Caldo there are two roads leading into the national park; one goes via the village and sanctuary of São Bento, the other leads to the spa of Caldas do Gerês, where you find an information centre. They provide information on the flora and fauna of the park, archeological finds (among which the Roman road that once lead from the city of Braga to Rome), walking routes, etc.
At walking distance, along the road that passes below the grounds of the villa, you will find several restaurants, cafés and shops. In Sta. Maria do Bouro (± 8 km in the direction of Amares) are more shops, a weekly market and an excellent restaurant in the historic pousada.
The distance to Braga and to Guimarães (Unesco World Heritage) is about 40 kms.
- The minimum stay in the high and mid season is 1 week, in the rest of the year 4 days.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Cleaning is included, once per week starting 2nd week.
- The security deposit is € 300.
- Indoors, although not especially adapted, reasonably suitable for (non-electric) wheel chairs.

Information on the way we work:
To book one of our properties simply send us an e-mail with the following details:
- Your full name, address and mobile telephone number;
- The name of the property of your choice;
- The period (date of arrival and date of departure);
- The number of people (adults and children, plus ages of the children);
- The number of rooms (if applicable);
- Additional information, such as the use of a cot.
We will send you thereupon by e-mail a confirmation with directions for payment. At request we will send you a written confirmation by mail as well.
Payments can be made in Euros by an international bank transfer. You can also pay through Paypal, in which case we will make a 2% charge as a contribution to the costs incurred.
As soon as we receive your down payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail, including detailed directions to the property.
As soon as we receive the balance of the payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail. In this message we will ask you to let us know – not later than 2 days in advance – the time of arrival, so we or the owner can be on time to welcome you and hand over the keys.
In some cases, depending on the property, we will also send practical information and tourist information on the house and its surroundings. Like the directions, this information is a simple html file (Internet page), that can be viewed or printed with any webbrowser such as Internet Explorer or FireFox.
The day of your arrival
On the day of your arrival we or the owner will be at the property at the time you agreed upon. If you expect to arrive later, for instance because your flight is delayed, please let us know as soon as possible.
If we ourselves cannot be at the property on the day or time of your arrival, we will try to come by one of the following days. Of course you won’t need to stay in, waiting for us, so if we don’t meet and you do have questions, don’t hesitate to call us.
Information on shops , restaurants, sight seeing…
For all our properties detailed information is available on shops, restaurants, wine, sight seeing, but also on hospitals, pharmacies, banks, etc. In some cases you will find the information in the house, in other cases we will send it to you together with the confirmation of the payment of the balance.
