Ground floor: Entrance. Living room with exits to the patio and to the back.
3 Bedrooms; the first a twin with ensuite shower room, the second a twin and the third a double. Shared showerroom for the second and third bedroom.
Downstairs: Fully fitted kitchen with dining area and exit to the exterior.
Heating: Open fireplace in the kitchen, woodburning stove in the living room, airco (hot and cold) in the living room and in the bedrooms.
Amenities: Private swimming pool, wi-fi Internet, TV, CD- and DVD-player, dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee machine, washing machine, cot (at request), barbecue.

House and surroundings

Casa do Fragão is a recently rebuilt property, named after the huge boulder the house is partly built against. The original granite built farmhouse has a modern extension with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The farmhouse itself now houses the living room and the kitchen, all furnished and decorated in very good taste.

 

Since the plot is not very large, a creative and quite spectacular solution was needed for the swimming pool. By way of a staircase at the back of the house you enter the roof terrace with next to it, on the rock, the splash pool.

 

The villa stands on one of the highest points of the little village of Vilarinho, offering terrific views over the Cávado valley and the mountains beyond. The road from Vilarinho leads to the mountain hamlet of Isabel do Monte. There, in the foothills of the Serra do Gerês, are excellent possibilities for walks and hikes.
The impressive national park Peneda-Gerês is “just around the corner”, as is the large reservoir of Caniçada (13 km), where you can rent canoes, jet skis, pedaloes and motor boats.

 

The most important place of interest in the vicinity is the Santuário de Nossa Senhora d’Abadia, a centuries old monastry in an idyllic green valley.
The nearest village is Santa Maria do Bouro (7 km), where you will find several shops and cafés, a weekly market, and a very good restaurant in the historic pousada. There are more shops and restaurants in Terras de Bouro (15 km) and Rio Caldo (13 km).
The distance to the city of Braga is about 32 km.

Particulars

  • The minimum stay is 1 week in the high season and 4 days in the rest of the year.
  • Cleaning is included, once per week starting 2nd week.
  • The security deposit is € 300.
  • Pets are not allowed.
  • Not suitable for wheel chairs.
  • Not recommended for younger children, because of height differences near the pool and in the garden.

Information on the way we work:

Booking

To book one of our properties simply send us an e-mail with the following details:

  • Your full name, address and mobile telephone number;
  • The name of the property of your choice;
  • The period (date of arrival and date of departure);
  • The number of people (adults and children, plus ages of the children);
  • The number of rooms (if applicable);
  • Additional information, such as the use of a cot.

We will send you thereupon by e-mail a confirmation with directions for payment. At request we will send you a written confirmation by mail as well.

The deposit

Payments can be made in Euros by an international bank transfer. You can also pay through Paypal, in which case we will make a 2% charge as a contribution to the costs incurred.
As soon as we receive your down payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail, including detailed directions to the property.

The balance

As soon as we receive the balance of the payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail. In this message we will ask you to let us know – not later than 2 days in advance – the time of arrival, so we or the owner can be on time to welcome you and hand over the keys.
In some cases, depending on the property, we will also send practical information and tourist information on the house and its surroundings. Like the directions, this information is a simple html file (Internet page), that can be viewed or printed with any webbrowser such as Internet Explorer or FireFox.

The day of your arrival

On the day of your arrival we or the owner will be at the property at the time you agreed upon. If you expect to arrive later, for instance because your flight is delayed, please let us know as soon as possible.
If we ourselves cannot be at the property on the day or time of your arrival, we will try to come by one of the following days. Of course you won’t need to stay in, waiting for us, so if we don’t meet and you do have questions, don’t hesitate to call us.

Information on shops , restaurants, sight seeing…

For all our properties detailed information is available on shops, restaurants, wine, sight seeing, but also on hospitals, pharmacies, banks, etc. In some cases you will find the information in the house, in other cases we will send it to you together with the confirmation of the payment of the balance.

It is your holiday, so we won’t bother you with a long questionnaire. But we would greatly appreciate if you could send us an e-mail afterwards, telling us what you thought of the organization and the property.
