Casa da Eira

Ground floor: Twin bedroom, with en-suite bathroom. Living/dining room, with open fully fitted kitchen. Acces to private terrace and garden.
Heating: Airco, hot and cold.
Amenities: private pool, TV with USB connection, CD-player, wifi-Internet, dishwasher, micro-wave oven with grill, electric stove, blender, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, barbecue and shared washing machine in utility room.

Casa do Sobreiro

First floor: Entrance. 2 Bedrooms: 1 double with en-suite shower room, 1 twin with on-suite bathroom. Both bedrooms, have a balcony with lovely views.
Ground floor: Living room with fireplace, dining area and open fully fitted kitchen. Acces to private garden with patio and barbecue.
Heating: Airco hot and cold, with fireplace in livingroom.
Amenities: swimming pool (shared with the studio “Oliveira” when rented, max 2 persons), TV with USB connection, CD-player, wifi-Internet, dishwasher, micro-wave oven with grill, blender, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, barbecue and shared washing machine in utility room.

Casa da Raposeira

First floor: Entrance. Dining/living room. Small, well equipped kitchen.1 Bedroom: double with en-suite shower room. Terrace next to the house.
Ground floor: Private utility room, with washing machine and sink. Private garden, with partly covered patio.
Heating: Airco hot and cold, with a woodburning stove in the living room.
Amenities: private pool, TV with USB connection, CD-player, wifi-Internet, micro-wave oven, electric oven, toaster and washing machine.

General

Large private woodland (16 hectares) with trails, utility room, with washing machine, baby cot (at request).
Breakfast is included: On arrival the owners will stock the fridge with a welcoming pack; milk, juice, butter, home made jam, coffee and fruits grown at the property. Daily you will find fresh baked bread rolls at the door!

House and surroundings

Quinta da Bouça is a former farm, located on a wooded mountain slope above a lock section of the Douro River, with 3 holiday cottages, a studio and a main house. Situated between the Douro River and the Tâmega River, a mountainous area were you can make lovely walks admiring mountains like Montemuro, Montedeiras and Aboboreira.

 

The property exists of forests, interspersed with fruit trees and of course vines. A part of the estate is reserved for free range Garrano horses, an ancient Portuguese horse breed, which can be visited.
Without leaving the grounds you can make beautiful walks through dense forests with landscaped walking trails and a hidden pond with ducks and geese.

 

Casa da Eira is newly built in a traditional style with modern finishes. The house also has a mezzanine/entresol with an extra small double bed, which can be rented as a supplement. The open steep stairs from the mezzanine are not suitable for small children or people with walking difficulties.

 

Casa da Raposeira is an old authentic cottage, decorated in a traditional style, with an old wood stove in the living room and many more old elements.
The cottage has a private swimming pool and garden and a partly covered terrace. The cottage is suitable for 2 persons and, if necessary, for a child up to 12 years old (sofa bed in the living room).

 

Casa do Sobreiro is the largest of the three holiday cottages. It is fully equipped, and can comfortably accommodate 4 persons and possibly a child up to 12 years old (sofa bed in the living room). The decoration is a tasteful combination of antique and modern.
The swimming pool from this cottage is shared with the guests of the studio, (when rented). There will be maximum 2 persons.

 

Quinta da Bouça also has a studio (Casa da Oliveira), which is also a good extension in combination with Casa da Eira or Casa do Sobreiro. The studio offers room to 2 persons.

 

The quinta is located in Paços de Gaiolo, part of the municipality of Marco de Canaveses. In the centre of Marco de Canaveses (± 15 kms) are shops, restaurants, banks, a post office and a weekly market. Peso da Régua is about 45 km, from where you can combine a beautiful downstream boat trip to Porto along the River Douro, and can come back upstream by train.
The nearest restaurant is Restaurante Penhadouro ± 5 km. The distance to the city of Braga is 78 km, to Guimarães (Unesco World Heritage) 58 km, and to Porto about 65

Information on the way we work:

Booking

To book one of our properties simply send us an e-mail with the following details:

  • Your full name, address and mobile telephone number;
  • The name of the property of your choice;
  • The period (date of arrival and date of departure);
  • The number of people (adults and children, plus ages of the children);
  • The number of rooms (if applicable);
  • Additional information, such as the use of a cot.

We will send you thereupon by e-mail a confirmation with directions for payment. At request we will send you a written confirmation by mail as well.

The deposit

Payments can be made in Euros by an international bank transfer. You can also pay through Paypal, in which case we will make a 2% charge as a contribution to the costs incurred.
As soon as we receive your down payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail, including detailed directions to the property.

The balance

As soon as we receive the balance of the payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail. In this message we will ask you to let us know – not later than 2 days in advance – the time of arrival, so we or the owner can be on time to welcome you and hand over the keys.
In some cases, depending on the property, we will also send practical information and tourist information on the house and its surroundings. Like the directions, this information is a simple html file (Internet page), that can be viewed or printed with any webbrowser such as Internet Explorer or FireFox.

The day of your arrival

On the day of your arrival we or the owner will be at the property at the time you agreed upon. If you expect to arrive later, for instance because your flight is delayed, please let us know as soon as possible.
If we ourselves cannot be at the property on the day or time of your arrival, we will try to come by one of the following days. Of course you won’t need to stay in, waiting for us, so if we don’t meet and you do have questions, don’t hesitate to call us.

Information on shops , restaurants, sight seeing…

For all our properties detailed information is available on shops, restaurants, wine, sight seeing, but also on hospitals, pharmacies, banks, etc. In some cases you will find the information in the house, in other cases we will send it to you together with the confirmation of the payment of the balance.

It is your holiday, so we won’t bother you with a long questionnaire. But we would greatly appreciate if you could send us an e-mail afterwards, telling us what you thought of the organization and the property.
