Layout and amenities
Ground floor: Entrance. Living room with open fireplace, pool-table and dining area. Utility room with shower, toilet and washing machine.
First floor: 3 bedrooms: 2 double bedrooms, of which one with ensuite shower room and one twin bedroom. Second shower room, shared by two bedrooms. One of the double rooms has an extra bed for one extra person. Reception room, fully fitted kitchen with exit to the garden.
Heating: Central-heating and open fireplace in the living room.
Amenities: Private swimming pool, TV, dvd player, wi-fi Internet, pool-table, dishwasher, barbecue, cot (at request), microwave oven, coffee machine, washing machine.
House and surroundings
Casa do Adigueiro is located about 100 metres from the river “Rio Cávado”. The House was built on the remains of an old farmhouse and has two floors. The ground floor, entirely built of granite and partly underground, has a large living room with seating area and fireplace, pool table and a small kitchenette. The kitchen, reception room and the bedrooms, are located on the first floor, which is also directly accessible from the terrace.
In front of the House there is a small vineyard, used by the owners to produce small quantities of regional wine. At your arrival they always have a little welcome basket waiting for you. From the porch you have a magnificent view over the vineyard and the mountains of the Serra da Cabreira behind it. Around the House there is a beautifully landscaped, fully enclosed garden with swimming pool. Together with the Serra da Cabreira, the beautiful surroundings are perfect for hiking.
Within a 10 to 15 minute walk you are in the small village of Casares, with some shops and restaurants and the famous Pousada Santa Maria da Bouro, a 18th century monastery. Starting in the village, a road leads to an Abbey on the top of a mountain. This route, both on foot and by car (brisk walk), is wonderful to do. (Capelas do Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Abadia)
The nearest larger towns are Vieira do Minho and Povoa de Lanhoso. (both about 16 km, all facilities) The distance to Braga is 25 km, and to the old centre of Guimarães, which is on the World Heritage list of Unesco is ± 50 km. The distance to the Peneda-Gerês National park is less than 15 km.
- The minimum stay in the high season is 1 week, in the rest of the year 5 days.
- The day price for each extra day from the 2nd week = week price / 7.
- The security deposit is € 300.
- Cleaning is included, once per week starting 2nd week.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Although not especially adapted, reasonably suitable for (non-electric) wheel chairs. The ground floor, part of the garden and the pool area are all on the same level.

Information on the way we work:
To book one of our properties simply send us an e-mail with the following details:
- Your full name, address and mobile telephone number;
- The name of the property of your choice;
- The period (date of arrival and date of departure);
- The number of people (adults and children, plus ages of the children);
- The number of rooms (if applicable);
- Additional information, such as the use of a cot.
We will send you thereupon by e-mail a confirmation with directions for payment. At request we will send you a written confirmation by mail as well.
Payments can be made in Euros by an international bank transfer. You can also pay through Paypal, in which case we will make a 2% charge as a contribution to the costs incurred.
As soon as we receive your down payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail, including detailed directions to the property.
As soon as we receive the balance of the payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail. In this message we will ask you to let us know – not later than 2 days in advance – the time of arrival, so we or the owner can be on time to welcome you and hand over the keys.
In some cases, depending on the property, we will also send practical information and tourist information on the house and its surroundings. Like the directions, this information is a simple html file (Internet page), that can be viewed or printed with any webbrowser such as Internet Explorer or FireFox.
The day of your arrival
On the day of your arrival we or the owner will be at the property at the time you agreed upon. If you expect to arrive later, for instance because your flight is delayed, please let us know as soon as possible.
If we ourselves cannot be at the property on the day or time of your arrival, we will try to come by one of the following days. Of course you won’t need to stay in, waiting for us, so if we don’t meet and you do have questions, don’t hesitate to call us.
Information on shops , restaurants, sight seeing…
For all our properties detailed information is available on shops, restaurants, wine, sight seeing, but also on hospitals, pharmacies, banks, etc. In some cases you will find the information in the house, in other cases we will send it to you together with the confirmation of the payment of the balance.
