Ground floor (accessible through the patio): Living room with, among others, TV, card table, sofa bed for 1. Shower room.
Between levels: Fully fitted kitchen with dining table.
First floor: Entrance. 2 Bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin), each with ensuite shower room. Veranda.
Heating: Airco (hot and cold).
Amenities: Private pool (saltwater), TV, wi-fi Internet, washing machine, dishwasher, hair dryer, barbecue, cot & highchair (at request), 5 bicycles, garden, private parking.

House and surroundings

Casa de Baúlhe is a former tentant farmhouse on a small wine estate situated on the edge of the village of Arco de Baúlhe. The house is recently converted and furnished in very good taste. Together with the pleasant inner yard and the swimming pool it makes an ideal holiday accommodation for 4 or 5 people.
In between the cottage and the main house (the owners are there only for the weekends) is a beautiful landscaped garden that the guests are free to use. Fresh vegetables and fruit are available in the kitchen garden.

The vineyards, that yield a sparkling light vinho verde, end at a small stream which offers nice places to swim. At walking distance, just a little further downstream, is a sunbathing field on the river bank and a bar with meals and drinks during the summer months.

Not far from the cottage is the terminal of the former Tâmega narrow gauge railway line. It has been more than 20 years since the trains halted there, the station has been converted into a local museum with one of the last steam engines and several carriages on show. The track is transformed into a 40 km bicycle and foot path, a beautiful route along vineyards, old stations, woodland and bridges.
You can also enjoy nature and walk to your heart’s content in the Alvão nature park.

In Arco de Baúlhe are several shops, pastelarias and restaurants. More choice is to be found in Cabeceiras de Basto (6 km), there is also a supermarket, a health care centre, and a large weekly market.

The distance to the centre of Braga is about 60 km, to Guimarães (Unesco World Heritage) 40 km, and to the impressive national park Peneda-Gerês plus the lake Caniçada 45 km.

Particulars

The minimum stay in the high season is 1 week, and in the rest of the year 3 days.
The day price for each extra day from the 2nd week = week price / 7 (only in low and mid – season).
Cleaning is included, once per week starting 2nd week.
Pool towels are provided.
Pets are not allowed.
Not suitable for wheel chairs.

Information on the way we work

Booking

To book one of our properties simply send us an e-mail with the following details:

Your full name, address and mobile telephone number;
The name of the property of your choice;
The period (date of arrival and date of departure);
The number of people (adults and children, plus ages of the children);
The number of rooms (if applicable);
Additional information, such as the use of a cot.

We will send you thereupon by e-mail a confirmation with directions for payment. At request we will send you a written confirmation by mail as well.

The deposit

Payments can be made in Euros by an international bank transfer. You can also pay through Paypal, in which case we will make a 2% charge as a contribution to the costs incurred.
As soon as we receive your down payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail, including detailed directions to the property.

Confirmation

As soon as we receive the balance of the payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail. In this message we will ask you to let us know – not later than 2 days in advance – the time of arrival, so we or the owner can be on time to welcome you and hand over the keys.

The day of your arrival

On the day of your arrival we or the owner will be at the property at the time you agreed upon. If you expect to arrive later, for instance because your flight is delayed, please let us know as soon as possible.
If we ourselves cannot be at the property on the day or time of your arrival, we will try to come by one of the following days. Of course you won’t need to stay in, waiting for us, so if we don’t meet and you do have questions, don’t hesitate to call us.

Information on shops , restaurants, sight seeing…

For all our properties detailed information is available on shops, restaurants, wine, sight seeing, but also on hospitals, pharmacies, banks, etc. In some cases you will find the information in the house, in other cases we will send it to you together with the confirmation of the payment of the balance.
