Ground floor: Entrance. Living/dining room with open fireplace. Toilet. Fully fitted kitchen.
First floor: 3 bedrooms, the first being a double with en-suite shower room and access to the veranda, the second a twin, the third a double with access to the veranda. Shared shower room. Covered patio at the back.
Heating: Open fireplace and woodburning stove in the living room, electric heaters in the bedrooms.
Amenities: Private swimming pool, TV, wi-fi Internet, dvd player, dishwasher, barbecue, cot (at request), microwave oven, coffee machine, toaster, washing machine, outbuilding with toilet next to the swimming pool.
House and surroundings
The quinta de Castel’Rei lies at the edge of a green valley, viewing the hilltop where a few thousand years ago the Citânia de Briteiros, a walled settlement, was founded.
The former farmhouse was quite tastefully restored some years ago. The owners left the exterior as much as possible the way it always was. Inside the authentic elements such as the granite walls and the original bread oven are in pleasant contrast with the modern architecture of the kitchen and the bathrooms and the light, airy bedrooms.
The house is surrounded by a lovely, lush garden. At the back the garden terraces lead up to an oak grove. On the second level is the swimming pool, surrounded by a lawn. Here you have absolute privacy!
The valley, linked to the green hills beyond the Bom Jesus, is perfect for walks. A marked walk leading along the Citânia starts in the village, next to the museum dedicated to the excavations of the settlement.
About 1 km from the quinta, in the village of São Salvador de Briteiros, there is a bakery, a grocery shop, a couple of cafés and a restaurant that serves good, plain food.
In Taipas (5 km) are all kinds of shops and two large supermarkets. There you will also find the Termas (spa), which offers a variety of beauty and wellness treatments.
The distance to the centre of Guimarães (Unesco World Heritage) is 15 km, to Braga via the Bom Jesus also 15 km, and to the impressive Peneda-Gerês national park about 40 km.
- Weekly cleaning is included, once per week starting 2nd week.
- The minimum stay in the high season is 1 week and in the mid season 4 days.
- The day price for each extra day from the 2nd week = week price / 7 (only in mid season).
- The security deposit is € 300.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Not suitable for wheel chairs.
- The widely spaced balustrades of the stairs and the landing offer little protection for smaller children.

Information on the way we work:
To book one of our properties simply send us an e-mail with the following details:
- Your full name, address and mobile telephone number;
- The name of the property of your choice;
- The period (date of arrival and date of departure);
- The number of people (adults and children, plus ages of the children);
- The number of rooms (if applicable);
- Additional information, such as the use of a cot.
We will send you thereupon by e-mail a confirmation with directions for payment. At request we will send you a written confirmation by mail as well.
Payments can be made in Euros by an international bank transfer. You can also pay through Paypal, in which case we will make a 2% charge as a contribution to the costs incurred.
As soon as we receive your down payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail, including detailed directions to the property.
As soon as we receive the balance of the payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail. In this message we will ask you to let us know – not later than 2 days in advance – the time of arrival, so we or the owner can be on time to welcome you and hand over the keys.
In some cases, depending on the property, we will also send practical information and tourist information on the house and its surroundings. Like the directions, this information is a simple html file (Internet page), that can be viewed or printed with any webbrowser such as Internet Explorer or FireFox.
The day of your arrival
On the day of your arrival we or the owner will be at the property at the time you agreed upon. If you expect to arrive later, for instance because your flight is delayed, please let us know as soon as possible.
If we ourselves cannot be at the property on the day or time of your arrival, we will try to come by one of the following days. Of course you won’t need to stay in, waiting for us, so if we don’t meet and you do have questions, don’t hesitate to call us.
Information on shops , restaurants, sight seeing…
For all our properties detailed information is available on shops, restaurants, wine, sight seeing, but also on hospitals, pharmacies, banks, etc. In some cases you will find the information in the house, in other cases we will send it to you together with the confirmation of the payment of the balance.
