Layout and amenities
Ground floor: Spacious living/dining room with open plan fully fitted kitchen and exit to the garden.
4 Double bedrooms, each with ensuite shower room and exit to the garden. 3 bedrooms have a bed of 160×200, and the fourth is a larger suite with spacious shower room and a 200×200 bed.
Heating: Airco (hot and cold), only in the living room. In the bedrooms electrical heaters.
Amenities: Private pool, TV, wifi-Internet, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave oven, fridge/freezer, oven, electric hob, kettle, ironing board, barbecue, cot (at request).
House and surroundings
Casa do Lago is a spacious modern bungalow, situated on a branch of the large reservoir of Caniçada. The bungalow is fitted with all modern conveniences, and the contemporary architecture, makes it a very pleasant spot to spend your holiday. Immediately adjacent to the kitchen is a partly roofed patio with a fixed barbecue, so you can truly enjoy the outdoors!
The sunny garden with some olive and fruit trees, borders directly on the lake where you can access the water; there is also the possibility for mooring canoes. From the bungalow and the swimming pool you have a beautiful and free view over the Lake.
The white part (the top floor), visible above the bungalow is not rented or otherwise used. The owner has this in use as storage space.
At the reservoir (about 700 hectares) are ample opportunities for water sports. You can hire canoes, jet ski’s, pedaloes or learn how to water ski.
The lake is also the southern border of the national park Peneda-Gerês. In the spa village of Caldas do Gerês is an information centre. They provide information on the flora and fauna of the park, archeological finds (among which the Roman road that once lead from the city of Braga to Rome), walking routes, etc.
In the village of Rio Caldo (6 km), at the “cross” of the lake, there are some shops, cafés and restaurants. More choice is to be found in Caldas do Gerês or Vieira do Minho (all facilities, ± 10 km). A baker passes the bungalow each morning.
The distance to the city of Braga is 30 km and to Guimarães (Unesco World Heritage) 60 km.
- The minimum stay in the high season is 1 week, in the rest of the year 4 days.
- The day price for each extra day from the 2nd week = week price / 7.
- The security deposit is € 150.
- Cleaning is included, once per week starting 2nd week.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Although not especially adapted, reasonably suitable for non-electric wheel chairs.

Information on the way we work:
To book one of our properties simply send us an e-mail with the following details:
- Your full name, address and mobile telephone number;
- The name of the property of your choice;
- The period (date of arrival and date of departure);
- The number of people (adults and children, plus ages of the children);
- The number of rooms (if applicable);
- Additional information, such as the use of a cot.
We will send you thereupon by e-mail a confirmation with directions for payment. At request we will send you a written confirmation by mail as well.
Payments can be made in Euros by an international bank transfer. You can also pay through Paypal, in which case we will make a 2% charge as a contribution to the costs incurred.
As soon as we receive your down payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail, including detailed directions to the property.
As soon as we receive the balance of the payment, we will send you a confirmation by e-mail. In this message we will ask you to let us know – not later than 2 days in advance – the time of arrival, so we or the owner can be on time to welcome you and hand over the keys.
In some cases, depending on the property, we will also send practical information and tourist information on the house and its surroundings. Like the directions, this information is a simple html file (Internet page), that can be viewed or printed with any webbrowser such as Internet Explorer or FireFox.
The day of your arrival
On the day of your arrival we or the owner will be at the property at the time you agreed upon. If you expect to arrive later, for instance because your flight is delayed, please let us know as soon as possible.
If we ourselves cannot be at the property on the day or time of your arrival, we will try to come by one of the following days. Of course you won’t need to stay in, waiting for us, so if we don’t meet and you do have questions, don’t hesitate to call us.
Information on shops , restaurants, sight seeing…
For all our properties detailed information is available on shops, restaurants, wine, sight seeing, but also on hospitals, pharmacies, banks, etc. In some cases you will find the information in the house, in other cases we will send it to you together with the confirmation of the payment of the balance.
